One very cold February day shortly after sunrise we pulled our car to a stop by the dam at Lake Sherburne along the road into the Many Glacier area. We had arrived early in the day as we knew that the road had only been plowed into the reservoir and that left another seven miles to cover on cross-country skis to reach our destination, Swiftcurrent Lake. The sky was clear but the temperature hovered just above 0ºF, and five miles into our ski, half of our party turned back because of a gale force headwind that we encountered. This photograph was taken as we approached Many Glacier where we were presented with the most stunning view of Mount Gould and the Continental Divide!
